Beverley Callard Shares Health Update After Cancer Surgery, Faces New Uncertainty
Beverley Callard, the beloved Coronation Street star, has provided an emotional health update following her recent breast cancer surgery. The 69-year-old actress, who is also known for her role in I’m A Celebrity… South Africa, revealed that while her surgeons successfully removed the cancerous tumor, the disease has spread to one of her lymph nodes.
In a candid Instagram post, Callard explained that her doctors from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital were pleased with the success of the surgery, but further tests revealed cancer cells in one lymph node. This discovery has led to a second round of tests, with samples sent to the United States for further examination to assess the malignancy of the cancer. The results are expected in approximately two weeks.
Callard first shared her breast cancer diagnosis in early February, and since then, she has been open with her followers about her journey. In her latest update, she described the lymph nodes as “like a staircase,” where cancer often “climbs” as it spreads. While the news of cancer being confined to just one lymph node was a relief, Callard admitted that the situation remains concerning as her treatment continues.
She underwent the removal of three lymph nodes in early March as a precautionary measure, and despite the anxiety of waiting for results, she expressed gratitude that the cancer was not found in the remaining two nodes. Callard shared her mixed emotions, saying, “The surgery went well, but the fact that the tumor is in the lymph node still leaves me with some worries. I’m trying to stay strong, but it’s hard.”
As she waits for the final test results, Callard has acknowledged that the next steps will depend on how quickly the cancer progresses. If the disease is found to be advancing rapidly, she may require chemotherapy followed by radiation. However, if it remains stable, she will continue with her original radiation plan.
Despite the uncertainty, Callard remains resilient, saying, “It’s difficult, but I’m keeping positive and taking it day by day.” Her candidness throughout this journey has garnered immense support from fans, who have been with her every step of the way.
