She explained that while the cancer was successfully excised, the involvement of the lymph nodes has added another layer of complexity to her journey. Beverley explained, “They’re pleased with how the surgery went, and they also took three lymph nodes. Cancer is in the first lymph node, but not the second or third. So, it’s there, but it’s only small.”
She went on to describe her consultant’s analogy of lymph nodes being like a staircase, where cancer can “climb up the stairs” if it reaches these vital components of the immune system. “They took three, and cancer is in the first lymph node. It’s not in the second, two, and three,” she explained.

Beverley revealed that the affected lymph node would be sent to America for further testing to determine the aggressiveness of the cancer. The actress is waiting for these results, which will determine whether she will need chemotherapy before beginning radiotherapy.
