“I’m absolutely gutted. I wanted to prove that older women could do it,” Beverley confessed, as she gathered her emotions during her departure chat. She reflected on the profound experience, stating, “I’ve had the experience of a lifetime.” Despite her disappointment at leaving the camp early, Beverley expressed her gratitude for the unforgettable time spent with her fellow campmates.
The decision to leave comes four months after Beverley’s participation in the show, as she was later diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. The actress underwent surgery to successfully remove the cancer, which has led to a positive recovery. “I’ve been resting constantly. Hopefully, I’ll keep feeling well and get better. But I’m good – I’m good,” she shared in a video update for her fans.
Beverley, who also participated in the 2020 I’m A Celeb series, had already overcome challenges, including a new hip, and had faced numerous trials with great determination. She reflected on how the camp’s grueling conditions, including time spent in the basic Savannah Scrub camp, had pushed her to her limits, but also brought the group together in a unique way. “The people were amazing. They were the best bunch ever,” she said.
Her departure from the show was an emotional one, with fellow campmates, including I’m A Celeb veterans, expressing their admiration and love for her. “We were all crying [when I had to leave], which really flattered me, although I didn’t want them to be upset,” she recalled.
