Beverley Callard has shared a heartfelt and emotional update on her cancer journey — admitting she feels uncertain and is “trying to be brave and strong” as she waits for important medical results.
The 68-year-old star, best known for playing Liz McDonald on Coronation Street, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment and keeping fans closely informed every step of the way.
A ‘WEIRD’ UPDATE THAT LEFT HER UNSURE
In a candid Instagram video, Beverley opened up about a recent development that has left her feeling unsettled.
After undergoing surgery in March to remove lymph nodes, she had expected to receive her results within a few weeks. But delays in the system meant she was still waiting — something she has openly admitted has been difficult.
Now, she says she has received a message asking her to attend a consultation with another doctor, as her usual consultant is away.
That unexpected change has left her unsure what to think.
She explained that she had initially been told a nurse would call her with results — so being asked to come in instead has raised questions in her mind about what it might mean.
‘NOT SURE HOW TO FEEL ABOUT IT’
Trying to process the situation, Beverley admitted she is struggling with the uncertainty.
She shared that she had spoken to a cancer nurse the week before and believed she would be contacted as soon as there was any update.
So the sudden appointment — rather than a simple phone call — has understandably made her pause.
Her honest reaction:
She doesn’t know how to feel.
KEEPING BUSY WHILE WAITING
As she waits for answers, Beverley revealed she has been throwing herself into painting at home to keep her mind occupied.
In the video, she spoke about spending hours working on a room, joking that she had been “painting for England” while dealing with the anxiety of waiting.
It’s a small but telling detail — showing how she is coping day-to-day during an incredibly stressful period.
LEANING ON FAMILY — AND FINDING STRENGTH
Beverley also shared that she initially wasn’t going to tell her husband Jon about the update, but was encouraged by her daughter Rebecca to be open with him.
She has since told him and is hoping he will be home soon for support.
Despite the uncertainty, she ended her message on a note of quiet resilience:
“I’m being strong.”
FANS RALLY AROUND HER
Within minutes of sharing the video, fans flooded her social media with messages of support.
Many reassured her that the wait — however difficult — would pass, and reminded her how strong she is.
Others simply sent love, encouragement and positive thoughts as she prepares for her upcoming consultation.
A DIFFICULT WAIT — BUT NOT ALONE
For anyone facing cancer, the waiting period for results is often one of the hardest parts — filled with questions, second-guessing and fear of the unknown.
Beverley’s openness about that experience has resonated deeply with fans, many of whom have gone through similar moments themselves.
Her message wasn’t polished or overly positive.
It was real.
Uncertain. Emotional. Honest.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Beverley is now set to meet with her consultant this week, where she will finally receive more clarity on her condition and next steps.
Until then, she continues to do what she can:
- Keeping busy
- Staying connected to loved ones
- And trying, in her own words, to stay strong
For now, one thing is clear:
She may not have all the answers yet…
But she has an entire wave of support behind her as she faces whatever comes next.
