BBC Radio 2 favourite Bob Harris has reassured fans with a heartfelt new update as he continues his cancer recovery at home.
The 80-year-old broadcaster, best known to generations of listeners as “Whispering Bob”, shared a smiling photo of himself giving a thumbs up, telling fans he was sending them love after a difficult period.
The update came after Harris recently revealed that his prostate cancer had spread to his upper spine — news he described as frightening after weeks of severe back pain and hospital scans.
Following the diagnosis, Bob underwent a course of radiotherapy and spent two weeks in hospital before being allowed to return home. He has since begun rehabilitation and says he is slowly feeling stronger.
Fans quickly flooded his post with supportive messages, praising his courage and sending their best wishes as he continues his recovery.
Bob was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007 and has faced several health battles over the years. In 2019, he was also forced to take time away from broadcasting after suffering a serious heart scare involving a tear to his aorta.
Despite the setbacks, the veteran presenter remains one of British radio’s most cherished voices. He has hosted The Country Show on BBC Radio 2 for many years and became a household name through BBC Two’s iconic music programme The Old Grey Whistle Test.
For many fans, his latest smiling update is more than just a photo — it is a powerful sign of resilience from a broadcasting legend still fighting with warmth, courage and quiet determination.
