Anthony Head, the beloved British actor best known for his roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Ted Lasso, has died at the age of 72.
His daughters, Emily and Daisy Head, confirmed that he passed away peacefully from complications linked to pneumonia, surrounded by his family.
In an emotional tribute, they described their father as “extraordinary” and said it had been an honour to witness the impact his work had on so many people.
Head became a household name as Rupert Giles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, before winning over a new generation of fans as Rupert Mannion in Ted Lasso. His long career also included memorable roles in Merlin, Little Britain, The Iron Lady, Persuasion, The Inbetweeners and Motherland.
His death comes just months after the loss of his longtime partner, Sarah Fisher, who was known for her dedication to animal welfare and her work with rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.
The family has asked for privacy as they grieve two devastating losses in a short space of time.
