Andy Reid Refuses To Reveal Taylor Swift And Travis Kelce Wedding Details — But Shuts Down Chiefs Distraction Fears

Travis Kelce hugs head coach Andy Reid after the Chiefs win Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona.Andy Reid has refused to reveal whether he will attend Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s reported wedding, offering a deliberately secretive response when questioned about the couple’s plans.

The Kansas City Chiefs head coach was asked about Kelce’s performance during mandatory minicamp before the conversation shifted towards his star tight end’s private life.

But Reid, 68, immediately made clear that he would not disclose anything about the highly anticipated celebration.

“Can’t talk about it,” he said. “Can’t talk about it.”

While the veteran coach protected the couple’s privacy, he was far more willing to discuss Kelce’s commitment to the Chiefs — insisting that wedding preparations have created no visible distraction as the 36-year-old prepares for his 14th NFL season.

Kelce has enjoyed an exceptionally busy offseason filled with international travel, award ceremonies, weddings and public appearances alongside Swift.

Yet Reid said the tight end had still spent most, if not all, of the offseason around the Chiefs.

“He’s been here most of the offseason, if not the whole offseason,” Reid explained.

“He’s been around and it’s good to have him here.”

Kelce attended Kansas City’s mandatory minicamp and completed all three scheduled days before travelling to New York to support Swift at her Songwriters Hall of Fame induction.

Reid said the veteran performed well during the programme and looked excited to begin preparing for another season.

“He did the mandatory camp and did a nice job there,” the coach said. “So it’s good to have him back in and rolling.”

“You see no distractions”

With constant speculation surrounding the couple’s wedding date, venue and guest list, Reid was asked whether Kelce’s personal commitments had affected his football focus.

The coach dismissed that suggestion.

“You see no distractions with that and the wedding,” he said.

The comment represented another strong public endorsement of Kelce from the man who has coached him throughout his entire NFL career.

Kelce has regularly balanced celebrity appearances and business projects with his responsibilities in Kansas City.

Although his relationship with Swift has dramatically increased the attention surrounding him, Reid has repeatedly described the tight end as a committed professional.

The coach’s latest remarks suggest that nothing has changed as the reported wedding approaches.

Travis Kelce's coach Andy Reid knew Taylor Swift before him — but is he happy with it?Earlier tuxedo joke appeared to confirm invitation

Reid’s refusal to answer came only weeks after he jokingly suggested that he had received an invitation.

During a May appearance on radio station 96.5 The Fan, host Carrington Harrison asked directly whether Swift and Kelce had included the Chiefs coach on their guest list.

“Well, I probably have,” Reid teased. “You know, I probably have.”

He then joked that his attendance might depend upon whether he could still fit into his formal clothing.

“If I don’t outgrow my tuxedo before then, I’m going,” he said.

The playful answer was widely interpreted as a strong indication that Reid expects to be present.

However, his more guarded response at minicamp suggested he has no intention of providing further clues.

Neither Swift nor Kelce has publicly confirmed an exact wedding date, location or guest list.

Reid compares Kelce with his own wedding experience

Reid also joked that Kelce may not be heavily involved in every detail of the planning.

Reflecting on his own marriage, the coach said his wife handled most of the arrangements while he simply followed instructions and arrived at the ceremony.

“If it’s like when I got married, my wife did everything, so I just kind of followed her lead on it and showed up,” Reid said.

He acknowledged that Kelce may be taking a more active role but insisted the tight end remained focused on his job.

“Maybe he’s doing more, but he looks like he’s pretty focused in on this job here, too,” the coach added.

The remark allowed Reid to keep the exchange light without confirming any private information.

Kelce commits to a 14th season

Kelce announced in March that he would return to Kansas City rather than retire.

The decision ensured he would play a 14th season with the franchise that selected him in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

Questions about his future had intensified following the Chiefs’ disappointing 2025 campaign.

Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade, ending an extraordinary era of postseason consistency.

Kelce also faced questions about whether age and the physical demands of his position had begun affecting his production.

But instead of walking away, he committed to returning for another attempt at restoring the Chiefs to championship contention.

His attendance throughout the offseason reinforced that decision.

Football came before NBA date night

Kelce’s commitment was especially clear when he remained in Kansas City for mandatory minicamp rather than joining Swift at Game 4 of the NBA Finals.

The singer watched the New York Knicks alongside Este and Alana Haim and actress Mariska Hargitay at Madison Square Garden.

Kelce stayed with the Chiefs and completed his football responsibilities.

He still showed support from a distance by liking several social-media posts featuring Swift at the game.

Once minicamp ended, he reportedly travelled directly to New York and arrived in time for her Hall of Fame induction the following evening.

The journey allowed him to fulfil both commitments without abandoning the team programme.

Travis supports Taylor’s historic achievement

Swift became the youngest woman ever inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame during the ceremony at the New York Marriott Marquis.

When director Steven Spielberg introduced her, the audience rose in applause.

Swift immediately embraced Kelce and shared a sweet kiss with him before delivering an emotional speech about her family and career.

The couple were later filmed dancing and singing during John Fogerty’s performance of “Fortunate Son.”

Kelce’s mother Donna and Swift’s mother Andrea sat with them, further highlighting the closeness between their families.

The appearance came only hours after Kelce had been practising in Kansas City.

Busy offseason without missing responsibilities

Kelce and Swift have travelled extensively throughout the offseason.

They appeared together at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March, marking one of their first joint appearances at a major awards ceremony.

The couple were later photographed leaving the London restaurant Gymkhana with British cinematographer Rina Yang, one of Swift’s frequent creative collaborators.

Two days afterward, they attended the Greek wedding of Chiefs defensive end George Karlaftis and his longtime partner Kaia Harris.

Swift and Kelce also sat courtside at an Eastern Conference Finals game between the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks.

Despite the travel and attention, Reid’s comments suggest Kelce continued reporting for voluntary and mandatory team work.

Reid protects one of his closest players

Reid and Kelce have developed a close relationship during their years together in Kansas City.

The coach helped turn the former college quarterback into one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history.

Kelce, meanwhile, has become a central figure in three Chiefs Super Bowl victories under Reid.

Their relationship has occasionally included highly emotional sideline moments, but both men have consistently expressed affection and respect for one another.

Reid has also spoken warmly about Swift and previously joked that he had known her before Kelce did because her father was a football fan.

His refusal to reveal wedding details may therefore be less about secrecy for its own sake and more about protecting two people close to him.

Chiefs need Kelce fully focused

Kansas City enters the 2026 season under unusual pressure following its 6-11 collapse.

Patrick Mahomes is attempting to return from surgery to repair the ACL and LCL in his left knee.

The receiver group faces uncertainty, and several young players are competing for major offensive roles.

Kelce’s leadership and experience may therefore be more valuable than ever.

He understands Reid’s system, has a unique connection with Mahomes and remains capable of influencing games even if his statistics decline from their career-high levels.

For the Chiefs, the important question is not where Kelce will marry or which teammates will attend.

It is whether he can help lead the team back into the postseason.

According to Reid, the answer to the focus question is clear.

Kelce is present.

Kelce is working.

And despite the extraordinary attention surrounding his private life, the Chiefs coach sees no wedding distraction at all.
