LORRAINE KELLY ANNOUNCES SHE WON’T BE BACK FOR SEVEN WEEKS AFTER PAINFUL LURGY – HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Lorraine Kelly has confirmed that she won't return to our TV screens for SEVEN WEEKS in an emotional health update - and thanked fans for 'sticking with her'Lorraine Kelly, the beloved TV host, has taken to Instagram to share an emotional health update with her fans, revealing that she won’t be returning to Lorraine for seven weeks due to an ongoing illness. The 66-year-old presenter has been missing from her regular spot on ITV’s morning lineup after suffering from a severe cold/flu (also referred to as lurgy) that had left her feeling drained. 🌸

In a make-up free Instagram video, Lorraine thanked her 591k followers for their get-well wishes, admitting that she is starting to feel much better but that the lurgy has been particularly difficult. “I am feeling a whole lot better,” she said, “but this has been a bad lurgy. If you’re going through it yourself, you have my sympathy. It’s a tough one, but I am getting there.”

Lorraine confirmed that she wouldn’t return to our screens for the next seven weeks, explaining that the changes to the show’s schedule would mean she wouldn’t be on air for a little while. “I will be off for a good few weeks,” she explained. “Not because I’m not well, but because of the changes to the show. We now do 30 weeks a year, so I won’t see you for a wee while, but I want to thank you for sticking with me through all the changes.”

The Scottish presenter, 66, (pictured) was missing from Thursday and Friday's instalments of her own ITV show, which airs between 9:30am and 10:00amChanges to ITV’s Schedule & Staff 📺
Lorraine’s show has been hit by ITV’s massive schedule shake-up recently, with Good Morning Britain now airing a longer block from 6 am to 10 am, pushing Lorraine’s slot into a shortened 30-minute segment from 9:30 am to 10 am. As a result, Lorraine will be off air for the remaining weeks of the year with several weeks of reduced airtime.

Lorraine thanked her fans for their continued support and gave a special shout-out to her team: “I never take it for granted and I really, really, really appreciate you tuning in. Thanks to my top team and crew and all of the lovely guests who come on Lorraine to share their stories. I will miss you but see you real soon!”

Lorraine’s show has been undergoing major changes, including staff cuts with over 220 job losses within ITV Daytime, affecting Lorraine and other popular shows like Loose Women. Lorraine’s time slot has also been shortened by 30 minutes, now only airing from 9:30 am to 10 am, a move that many fans have expressed disappointment over.

In January 2025, it was revealed that Lorraine would be forced to step down for half of the year, with her show replaced by Good Morning Britain. This reduction in hours will see her hosting just 30 weeks a year rather than the usual five days a week. It’s left many wondering how these changes will affect Lorraine’s career moving forward.
