Opera legend Alfie Boe has revealed the heart-wrenching details of his painful divorce from ex-wife Sarah, admitting it’s a “shame” he couldn’t speak the truth about the situation that sent him spiraling into a “dark place.”
The 52-year-old tenor, known for his role in Les Misérables, split from his wife of 16 years in 2020, after which she moved with their children to the United States, leaving Alfie behind in the UK. I’d gone through beating myself up, hating myself, and not having any love for myself. It resulted in a foolish act of throwing some pills down my throat because I’d lost my way.”
Boe’s fans were shocked when they learned of the overdose, but he now credits his rehab experience for helping him find a way out of the darkness. “I ended up in rehab for about five weeks and it was the hardest time of my life,” he said.
