British Music Legends Set for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction

In a historic moment for British music, six UK acts will be inducted into the 2026 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, marking a record-breaking achievement for the institution. This year’s induction surpasses the previous high set in 2019 when five British artists were honored.

Among the legendary acts being inducted are Oasis, Iron Maiden, Sade, Phil Collins, Billy Idol, and a joint recognition for Joy Division and New Order. This year’s announcement was made during an episode of American Idol by host Ryan Seacrest and judge Lionel Richie.

Oasis

A Landmark Achievement for British Artists

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Chairman John Sykes expressed his excitement, stating, “Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honour. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony. It’s going to be an unforgettable night.”

Phil Collins, who was previously inducted as part of Genesis in 2010, will receive his second honour. Joy Division and New Order are being recognised together, acknowledging the formation of New Order following the tragic death of frontman Ian Curtis in 1980.

Sade’s inclusion is particularly significant as she becomes the first British black woman to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Sade Adu, born in Nigeria and raised in the UK, achieved major success in the US, where her album Soldier of Love debuted at number one in 2010.

Other inductees include American icons Wu-Tang Clan and the late Luther Vandross.

Billy Idol

A Milestone for Oasis

Oasis, one of the UK’s most iconic bands, will also join the ranks of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Liam Gallagher, known for his outspoken views, appeared to soften his previous criticism of the institution, saying on social media, “Anything is possible if you have a dream.”

Billy Idol, another inductee, expressed his disbelief and excitement, saying, “It’s just been fantastic, being part of this musical revolution we really believed in.”

The 2026 induction ceremony will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theatre, marking another unforgettable chapter in the history of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

With the induction of these iconic British artists, the UK’s legacy in the global music scene continues to shine
