“One Born Every Minute” Returns to Channel 4: A New Chapter for the Iconic Maternity Documentary
After seven years off the air, the beloved observational documentary series One Born Every Minute is making its much-anticipated return to Channel 4. The series, which originally ran for eleven seasons from 2010 to 2018, captured the emotional and raw journeys of childbirth through the eyes of expectant families and medical teams.
Now, a new generation of viewers will experience the intimate and life-changing moments of labour with 12 brand-new episodes filmed later this year, set to air on E4. This relaunch promises to showcase evolving family dynamics, advancements in maternity care, and the real-life challenges faced by NHS staff in 2026.
Once filmed in Southampton’s Princess Anne Hospital and Birmingham’s Women’s Hospital, One Born Every Minute will return with its signature fixed-rig cameras, following families and healthcare professionals through the highs and lows of one of life’s most transformative moments.
Vivienne Molokwu, Senior Commissioning Editor for E4, expressed her excitement about the show’s return: “We feel privileged to follow this extraordinary journey once more. The rollercoaster of emotions around childbirth is something our audience will resonate with, especially as the digital age reshapes how families navigate this stage of life.”
Will Rowson, Co-Creative Director at Dragonfly TV, added: “With so much having changed in pregnancy and maternity care over the years, this is an exciting moment to reimagine the show for today’s audience.”
One Born Every Minute was previously praised for its powerful storytelling, winning a BAFTA for Best Factual Series. Now, with its return, it aims to bring even more heartwarming and unpredictable moments to both new and returning viewers.
