Jane McDonald Opens Up About Struggles and Heartbreak in Candid Confession on New Album Journey
In a deeply emotional moment, Jane McDonald shared her struggles in the tough world of showbusiness while recording her new album, Living the Dream, in Nashville. The renowned TV personality and singer broke down in tears as she reflected on her 27-year-long career and the challenges she has faced as the “underdog” in the industry.
Speaking candidly during her time at the legendary Blackbird Studio in Nashville, Jane opened up about how difficult the journey has been, but how proud she is for never giving up. “It’s been a struggle. I’m not going to lie. This industry is hard… very, very hard,” she admitted, fighting back tears.
For years, Jane had been encouraged to pursue a country music career by her father and many others, but she never seriously considered it until now. “It’s only taken me 27 years to finally come round to doing what I maybe should have been doing all along!” she confessed.
The new Channel 5 show, which follows Jane as she records her album, also gave viewers a glimpse of the vulnerability behind her professional success. As she watched her songs come to life in the studio, Jane shared her shock at the process. “When I started here I thought ‘what am I doing?’ I’ve always felt my heart is in country because I’m a storyteller, and when I write songs, I write a story. This is my story.”
In a heartbreaking moment, Jane also revealed the deep loss she continues to feel after the death of her fiancé, Eddie Rothe, in 2021. She shared that she would “give everything up” to have him back by her side, adding that she still feels his presence in her life. Eddie, who was a major part of her life both in her youth and decades later, passed away from lung cancer, and Jane became his full-time carer in his final days.
Despite the heartbreak and challenges, Jane McDonald’s story is one of perseverance, and her new album represents a powerful testament to her journey.
