During a poignant moment on BBC Breakfast, toy maker Bill Houghton was overcome with emotion as he recalled receiving a heartfelt message from Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The tearful moment came during an interview where Bill shared the incredible story of his handmade wooden toys and his impact on underprivileged children.

The BBC Breakfast hosts, Ben Thompson and Nina Warhurst, immediately stepped in to comfort Bill. Ben put his hand on Bill’s shoulder and reassured him with a gentle “You’re worth it!” Nina, equally sympathetic, expressed, “Oh Bill,” as the emotional guest apologized for his tears, adding, “I’m sorry.”

Bill’s emotional journey has not been without its personal losses. Earlier this year, Bill had appeared on BBC Breakfast and became visibly emotional when discussing his late wife, Pat, who passed away last year. Through tears, Bill referred to her as “the love of my life” and shared how her memory continues to affect him. “She looked after me, and she still is,” Bill said, struggling to hold back more tears.
