As the Artemis II mission made history by reaching the far side of the moon, NASA took a light-hearted detour to bring some attention to a much older, yet amusing tweet from none other than Travis Kelce. The tweet, posted in 2010, featured Kelce reflecting on the moon’s beauty and sharing his thoughts on visualizing success.
In the tweet, Kelce wrote:
“The moon looks crazy tonight… Imma chill out here for a little and just visualize my success n vibe to the scenary. It’s been a long time coming…”
To celebrate the Artemis II astronauts’ monumental achievement of reaching 252,756 miles from Earth, NASA responded with a witty nod to the tweet, referencing Taylor Swift’s “Miss Americana” lyric:
“It’s been a long time coming…” adding a moon emoji to playfully connect the past tweet with the astronauts’ incredible journey.
The timing couldn’t have been more perfect, as the Artemis II crew—Commander Reid Wiseman, Pilot Victor Glover, and Mission Specialists Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen—were deep into their mission, surpassing Apollo 13’s distance record from 1970.
Kelce, now gearing up for his 14th NFL season and engaged to Taylor Swift, has come a long way since his 2010 social media days. However, those early tweets, often filled with lighthearted, whimsical observations, have taken on new life, sparking viral moments even years later.
Reflecting on his past posts during a 2023 episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce admitted, “I was just using Twitter as like a diary… I’m just out here just saying nonsense.”
One of the posts that continues to amuse fans was another from April 2011, where Kelce shared an amusing encounter with a squirrel, writing:
“I just gave a squirle a peice of bread and it straight smashed all of it!!!! I had no idea they ate bread like that!! Haha #crazy.”
His brother Jason Kelce, who co-hosts the podcast with him, couldn’t help but joke about the misspelling, saying, “First of all, that’s the new spelling for squirrel. I’m only spelling squirrel like that from now on.”
These tweets may have started as lighthearted musings, but they’ve become part of Travis Kelce’s quirky, memorable social media legacy—a reminder that even the simplest moments can make a big impact.
