Comedian Lucy Beaumont has spoken out for the first time about her split from ex-husband Jon Richardson. The couple, who share a daughter, had been married for nine years before announcing their separation earlier this year.
In an exclusive interview, Lucy addressed the emotional and financial aspects of the divorce. The pair, who first met in 2013, had shared their personal lives on screen through the show Meet the Richardsons. However, they made a joint decision to part ways, citing mutual respect for each other despite the end of their marriage.
Lucy opened up about the reasons for the separation, expressing that while their marriage had its challenges, there was no animosity between them. She also revealed that Jon handed over a significant £1.625 million as part of the divorce settlement.

Lucy also recalled her emotional struggles, particularly her concerns about Jon’s inability to admit when he was wrong. This, she explained, made it difficult for their marriage to thrive. A resurfaced video from Jon’s show Ultimate Worrier showed Lucy sharing her frustrations about this issue, adding, “Sometimes I worry I made a mistake.”
Additionally, Lucy recounted a frightening incident during their honeymoon in Santa Cruz, where Jon’s refusal to admit they were in danger led to a terrifying situation. Despite the growing tension, the couple made it through the ordeal, though Lucy expressed that it was moments like these that caused her to question their relationship.
A New Chapter in Lucy’s Life
Now in her forties, Lucy says she feels a little “angrier” but is more determined than ever to stand up for herself. She admits that she doesn’t feel any different physically but is now more focused on not tolerating disrespect from others.
When reflecting on her marriage to Jon, Lucy acknowledged the good times and the joy of raising their daughter together but remained uncertain about what the future holds for her and Jon. “Who knows what will happen in the future,” she said, adding, “We’ve had a lovely life together.”
This revelation follows Lucy’s earlier comments about her concerns over Jon’s stubbornness and how it affected their marriage, particularly when it came to admitting mistakes.
