Lance Bass is embracing fatherhood in a way that only someone with the experience of waiting to have children later in life can. The 46-year-old former NSYNC star has reflected on how glad he is that he and husband Michael Turchin chose to have kids when they did, sharing their joy in raising 4-year-old twins, Violet and Alexander.
In an exclusive interview with OK!, Lance opened up about how his life has shifted since becoming a father, discussing everything from his marriage to Michael to his collaboration with Hay Day.
Grateful for Parenthood Later in Life
“I think everything’s about balance, you know, it’s the yin and yang,” Lance shared. “When you become parents, sometimes you just kind of let everything disappear, and you just focus on raising your kids. And I’m so glad we started a little later in life to have kids.”
Looking back at friends who had children in their early 20s, Lance admits it always seemed a bit overwhelming. “If I had kids like my friends from high school, you know, 22 years old, having their first kids, it was scary as h—,” he confessed. “You didn’t know what was happening. Now that I’ve seen a lot of my friends go through it, I was way less scared of having kids, and I think I was prepared way more to give a more balanced life.”
Enjoying the Fun Stages of Parenthood
With his twins now entering a new phase of their childhood, Lance has found that he is enjoying parenting more than ever. Gone are the days of frantic newborn care, replaced by lively and engaging conversations with his two growing personalities. “Newborns are completely different from, like, these little teenagers that we have now,” he jokes. “Before you’re just constantly watching them to make sure that they’re alive, right? It’s like, how do I keep you alive, little nugget?”
Now, as his twins show off their blossoming personalities, Lance can’t help but marvel at how quickly they’re learning. “Now that they have personalities, and you have these conversations… it’s amazing how quickly they just learn everything,” he says. “Everything you say now they hear and you’re like, okay, you can’t hide anything anymore around them. They’re going to pick up everything that’s happening.”
Cherishing Every Moment

Perhaps one of the most touching reflections Lance shared was about the moments they spend together at night. “I can’t wait for them to get home from school,” he says with a smile. “When you get that hug, when you get to snuggle on the couch at night before you go to bed… I’m laying down with them and they’re just telling me about their day and just talk, talk, talk.”
Despite the exhaustion of daily life with young children, Lance cherishes these nighttime moments. “You’re just wanting them to go to sleep… but you cherish all those moments, because you don’t have many more years like that,” he shares. “I just cherish every single second I have with them, especially our nighttime, just because that’s when they really come to life.”
Raising Two Very Different Kids

Lance also opens up about how different Violet and Alexander are from one another. The twins, though close in age, have distinct personalities that make their household full of surprises. “Two very different kids, one busy household,” he laughs, hinting that their contrasting traits keep him and Michael on their toes.
Despite the challenges of raising young children, especially twins, Lance’s passion for being a father shines through every word he speaks.
The Importance of Balance in Parenting

For Lance, balance is key. Whether it’s juggling his career, his role as a father, or his partnership with Hay Day, the idea of maintaining a healthy balance in his personal and professional life has become a core focus. “Having the twins has brought so much joy to my life, and even in the craziness, I’m grateful for every moment,” he says.
His openness about his journey into parenthood later in life also sends a positive message to those who may be hesitant about starting a family after the typical timeline. Lance’s reflections offer a reminder that while parenthood may come with its challenges, it can also be deeply rewarding when approached with patience, experience, and love.
As Violet and Alexander continue to grow and bring joy to their family, it’s clear that Lance and Michael are ready to embrace every stage of their children’s lives, finding balance and joy even in the most hectic moments. 🌟👶💖
