Wayne Lineker Opens Up About Alcohol Struggles, Family Reunion, and New Sobriety Life

Wayne Lineker, the businessman known for his high-profile lifestyle and Ibiza nightlife empire, has recently shared his deeply personal journey of transformation. After years of partying and struggles with alcohol, the 63-year-old businessman has now been sober for eight months, living a quieter life in Essex and making peace with his past.

Wayne, who once estimated he consumed 52,000 drinks over 13 years, describes his battle with alcohol as a “burden” on his family. His turning point came after a devastating call from his son, Duane, who told him that his alcohol consumption had reached a point where it was no longer safe for Wayne to pick up his grandchildren from school.

“I understood, but it was a big turning point for me. It hit me like a ton of bricks,” Wayne confessed. The call marked a wake-up call that ultimately led to his decision to seek help.

Sobriety and Family Healing

Since giving up drinking and entering rehab, Wayne has worked on rebuilding relationships, particularly with his brother, Gary Lineker. The two had been estranged for 17 years, but a family wedding in Ibiza brought them back together.

Wayne reflected on their newfound friendship, saying, “Gary and I are back as friends again… but we’re not at that level we used to be.” Despite the past tension, the two have reconnected and now share moments of laughter and joy, as evidenced by a heartwarming photo from his daughter’s wedding, where Gary praised Wayne’s emotional speech.

Having suffered two severe pneumonia attacks that landed him in the hospital for seven weeks, Wayne has committed himself to a healthier lifestyle. Now focused on his health, he is in the midst of a seven-day fast, limiting himself to water as part of his commitment to sobriety. Reflecting on his physical and emotional transformation, he shares, “I feel fantastic. I can’t even describe how well I feel compared to how terrible I felt every day.”

Though still single, Wayne has his eyes set on a new chapter in his life, one that includes finding a partner. “I’d love someone to settle down with. It’s my ultimate goal now,” he shared. After a high-profile relationship with ex-fiancee Danielle Sandhu, Wayne says he is now looking for someone a little older, preferably around 40, who is more aligned with his current lifestyle.
