Gemma Collins, the reality star famous for her larger-than-life personality, has bravely opened up about the emotional toll her IVF journey has taken on her relationship with fiancé Rami Hawash. The 45-year-old TOWIE alum revealed that the process left her feeling “broken” and caused her relationship to suffer.
Speaking candidly in a first look at her upcoming Sky series, Four Weddings And A Baby, Gemma discussed how her dream of becoming a mother brought immense personal struggles. “My relationship was obviously taking a bit of a hit,” she told presenter Dermot O’Leary. “I was trying to have a baby — my whole world just fell apart.”
Gemma and Rami, who rekindled their romance in 2020, got engaged in 2024 and plan to marry later this year. Despite her excitement over the engagement, the reality star admitted the IVF journey was far from easy, both physically and emotionally. The couple’s attempts to conceive faced several setbacks, and Gemma revealed that the constant trauma and struggles left her feeling like a shell of herself. “There was no performative person there,” she shared. “I was broken.”
While struggling to conceive, Gemma has also opened up about her difficult health challenges. The reality star has a low AMH (anti-müllerian hormone) count, meaning she has a limited number of eggs available. Additionally, Gemma suffers from polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a condition that affects the ovaries and makes conception harder.
The 45-year-old also revealed the heartbreaking reality of multiple miscarriages. Gemma’s first loss happened in 2012, though she didn’t speak publicly about it until 2020. Her second miscarriage occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, and a few months later, she suffered a third miscarriage, this time while pregnant with her ex-boyfriend James ‘Arg’ Argent’s child.
In light of these struggles, Gemma had considered alternative routes like surrogacy and fostering, citing that her mother had been fostered as a child. Gemma’s struggles with fertility and pregnancy loss have resonated deeply with her fans, who have rallied around her as she continues to share her emotional journey.

Very attractive quality. He loves me with no makeup, the natural me.”

Gemma plans to have not one but several celebrations. “I want a main ceremony in the UK, a second abroad, and a formal one for our closest family and friends,” she shared. I love driving into London and seeing Big Ben,” she confessed, adding that while she enjoys spending time in Dubai, her heart is with the UK.
