Jesy Nelson Makes Powerful Return to Filming for Documentary Amid Heartbreaking Health Struggles of Her Baby Twins
Jesy Nelson, the resilient singer and former Little Mix star, has made a stunning return to work, showing off her midriff in a crop top as she continues filming for her highly anticipated TV documentary. The 34-year-old was spotted rocking a cropped grey cardigan paired with a white lace bralette, flaunting her belly button piercing. Jesy styled her long tresses in soft curls, pairing the look with casual denim jeans, exuding both elegance and strength as she carries on filming despite the difficult health battle her twin daughters, Ocean and Story, are facing.
Jesy welcomed her daughters prematurely in May 2025 with her ex-fiancé Zion Foster. In the midst of the joy of motherhood, Jesy was faced with the heartbreaking news that both twins were diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy Type 1 (SMA1), a genetic neuromuscular disease that affects motor nerve cells in the spinal cord. SMA1, the most severe form, weakens the muscles and impacts the ability to breathe and swallow, with a life expectancy of less than two years without timely medical intervention.
Despite this devastating diagnosis, Jesy has found strength in her mission to spread awareness about SMA and campaign for SMA testing at birth. In an Instagram post, she teased fans with a glimpse of her new show, writing: “Filming dayyyyssss,” as she continues to fight for change while documenting her family’s journey.
In a recent Q&A, Jesy shared her emotional decision to keep filming, even in the face of unimaginable challenges. “As hard as it was, we were like, ‘You know what? There’s a reason you guys are here, and we’ve got to make the best out of this situation,’” Jesy reflected. “I hope people continue to watch the next part of the journey… I’m just so happy that we’ve been able to document everything, because I really believe that we’re going to make a change.”
Jesy remains hopeful for her daughters, who are now receiving treatment, and is determined to defy the odds. “My girls are the strongest, most resilient babies, and I really believe that they are going to defy all the odds,” Jesy said, speaking about her twins’ health struggles on Jamie Laing’s Great Company podcast.
Jesy’s fight extends beyond her own family as she calls for genetic testing to become part of the standard heel prick test to catch SMA earlier in infants. She explained that early treatment could have saved her daughters from the debilitating effects of the disease, offering them a better chance of a longer life.
Despite all the pain, Jesy’s strength and dedication to raising awareness shine through, and her journey continues to inspire and move fans worldwide. We are all rooting for you, Jesy, and your beautiful girls!
