Sir Chris Hoy has delivered an inspiring message for people living with stage four cancer, declaring: “There’s plenty of life left in us.”
The six-time Olympic cycling champion revealed in 2024 that his prostate cancer had spread to his bones. Despite being given a prognosis of between two and four years, he said the illness is not stopping him from enjoying the things he loves.
Hoy is now focusing on September’s Tour de 4 charity ride in Glasgow, which aims to raise money for major UK cancer charities and change perceptions of life with advanced cancer.
He encouraged others to continue making plans, setting goals and appreciating life’s smallest moments.
“Don’t forget to enjoy the present,” he said. “Cancer does not have to define who you are.”
