👶 Nikki Sanderson and Anthony Quinlan have finally revealed the name of their baby boy — and it comes with a deeply personal family meaning.
The proud new parents welcomed their son on April 19, six weeks before sharing his name publicly, after what Nikki has described as a difficult and painful birth.
Their little boy, who arrived weighing 7lb 9oz, has been named Anthony James Quinlan.
The name is a touching tribute to two important men in Nikki’s life: her partner Anthony and her brother James.
❤️ Speaking about the choice, Nikki said the baby was named after “two very special men.”
The former Hollyoaks star said she and Anthony feel “truly blessed” and revealed that their son has been calm since arriving home, which has helped them adjust to life in the newborn bubble.
Before his birth, the couple affectionately referred to their unborn baby as “Mini Quinny.”
Now that he is here, they are calling him by his full name, Anthony — although family and friends have already started creating their own nicknames.
🌟 Proud dad Anthony admitted he loves that his son shares his name.
He revealed that some relatives call the baby AJ, while others have gone with Tony.
Anthony also joked that because he used to be called Toe, their son has now become Little Toe to some members of the family.
It is the kind of sweet, chaotic nickname collection that often happens when a much-loved baby arrives.
Everyone wants their own special name for him.
💔 But while the couple are now enjoying life with their baby boy, Nikki has admitted the birth was far from easy.
The actress was induced at 39 weeks, but her body reacted strongly to the hormone gel used during the process.
She said she became hypersensitive to it, which caused sudden, relentless contractions that continued for 24 hours.
Despite contracting constantly, Nikki said she was not dilating.
That meant her hopes of a natural birth quickly faded as doctors became concerned about both her condition and the baby’s wellbeing.
⚕️ Nikki recalled being in intense pain as medical staff stepped in.
She said her body had started shaking and she felt “out of it” as the situation became increasingly difficult.
A consultant eventually advised an emergency C-section, warning that she physically could not continue and that the baby could become distressed if they waited longer.
For Nikki, it was a frightening and emotional moment.
After preparing for one kind of birth, she suddenly had to accept that medical intervention was the safest option.
❤️ The recovery has also been tough.
Nikki admitted she has been in “a lot of pain” since the birth, but said every second has been worth it now that little Anthony is safely in their arms.
Her words captured the emotional reality of many new mothers: trauma, exhaustion and pain mixed with overwhelming love.
She described her son as a “little miracle,” making clear that despite everything she went through, becoming his mum has made it all worthwhile.
✨ For Nikki and Anthony, this is a huge new chapter.
The couple, both well known to soap fans, have moved from pregnancy excitement into the intense, emotional world of early parenthood.
Sleepless nights, healing, feeding, baby cuddles and new routines are now part of daily life.
But their joy is obvious.
After weeks of keeping his name private, they have now shared the traditional and meaningful name chosen for their son.
💛 Anthony James Quinlan is more than just a name.
It links the baby to his father.
It honours Nikki’s brother.
And it gives the couple’s son a strong family identity from the very beginning.
The proud parents may have gone through a difficult start, but their focus now is clear: enjoying every precious moment with their calm little boy.
After a traumatic birth and painful recovery, Nikki Sanderson says her baby boy was worth it all.
And for the new family of three, life with “Mini Quinny” has only just begun.
