Clarkson’s Farm star Kaleb Cooper has revealed the very farmer-like reason he did not rush straight to hospital when his fiancée Taya went into labour.
The 27-year-old TV favourite, who welcomed his third child with Taya last summer, shared the funny confession during an appearance on This Morning from Diddly Squat Farm.
Kaleb explained that he was halfway through working in a field when Taya called to tell him she had gone into labour.
Instead of dropping everything immediately, he asked if she needed him right away. When she told him to come “shortly”, Kaleb decided to finish the field first.
He then admitted he went home, had a shower, ate dinner and only then headed to the maternity centre.
The confession left hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley laughing, especially when Kaleb casually confirmed he really did have dinner before going to see Taya.
Luckily, everything went smoothly. The couple welcomed their baby boy Ashton on August 14 at Chipping Norton maternity unit.
Kaleb later shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a sweet photo of his newborn son wrapped in a blanket and wearing a blue knitted hat.
The proud dad also revealed that he ordered a Chinese takeaway after the birth — and even bought some for the midwives too.
Jeremy Clarkson later joked about the moment in his column, calling Kaleb’s decision to finish harvesting before heading to the birth “farmerish”.
Kaleb, who rose to fame alongside Jeremy on Clarkson’s Farm, has become one of the show’s most loved stars thanks to his blunt humour, hard work and unforgettable countryside charm.
