Beverley Callard has shared a new update on her breast cancer treatment after doctors told her she should have started radiotherapy before now.
The 69-year-old actress, best known for playing Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, revealed earlier this year that she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. Since then, Beverley has regularly kept fans updated on her health.
In a video posted on Instagram, Beverley said she had recently visited hospital to meet her new medical team after moving to Ireland with her husband Jon McEwan to star in Fair City.
She explained that doctors were “a little concerned” because her radiotherapy had been delayed, partly due to the house move and the time it took for her medical records to be transferred from England to Ireland.
Although the news was not exactly what she had hoped to hear, Beverley tried to stay positive. She said she will meet more doctors later this week and hopes to begin radiotherapy “very soon”.
The actress previously admitted she was feeling a little nervous, but said she was still “full of beans” and ready to begin treatment.
Beverley also thanked fans for the thousands of supportive messages they have sent, saying their kindness has helped her stay strong during this difficult time.
For Beverley, this is not only a health battle, but also a journey of faith, calmness and hope.
