Rebekah Vardy Breaks Silence With Defiant Message As She Insists She Will Never Apologise To Coleen Rooney

Rebekah Vardy has made it clear that she has no intention of apologising to Coleen Rooney, years after the explosive Wagatha Christie scandal gripped the nation.

The long-running drama began in October 2019, when Coleen, wife of former England footballer Wayne Rooney, posted a now-famous statement on social media claiming that private stories from her Instagram account had been leaked to the press.Rebekah Vardy says she will never apologise to Coleen Rooney

After carrying out her own online “sting operation,” Coleen said she had restricted access to the posts and concluded that the only account able to view them was Rebekah Vardy’s. The dramatic reveal quickly went viral and earned Coleen the nickname “Wagatha Christie.”

The bitter dispute later became one of the most high-profile celebrity court cases in recent British history. In July 2022, a judge ruled that Coleen’s claims were “substantially true” and described Rebekah as an “untrustworthy witness.” Rebekah was said to be deeply disappointed by the outcome, though she confirmed she would not appeal the decision.Coleen accused Rebekah's Instagram account of leaking stories to the media

Now, as she prepares to open up her family life in a new ITV reality series, Rebekah has spoken again about the fallout — and her words are anything but apologetic.

“I’m never going to apologise for something I didn’t do,” she said.

Speaking to The Sun, Rebekah added: “Hell will freeze over before I do that.”

Although she says the drama is now “done” and “over,” Rebekah admits she is still living with the consequences of the court judgment and the public reaction that followed.

In the upcoming ITV show, titled The Vardys, viewers will see Rebekah reflect on the emotional impact of losing the libel case, while also attempting to move forward with her family after a turbulent few years.

She said she accepts that she has to live with the judge’s decision, but still believes it was wrong.

“I’m living with the judgment the judge made, but still to this day, I believe she was wrong,” Rebekah said.

She added that some people believe the only way forward is for her to apologise — but that, she insists, will not happen.

“I’m not apologising for something I didn’t do. Like never, ever, going to apologise for something I didn’t do — it’s never going to happen.”

The new series comes at a major turning point for the Vardy family. Jamie Vardy has left Leicester City after 13 years and relocated to Italy after signing for US Cremonese.

The show will begin with Jamie’s emotional final match for Leicester, where he scored his 200th goal before saying goodbye to the club that made him a Premier League legend.

From there, cameras will follow Rebekah as she juggles family life, the reality of being married to a footballer, and the huge task of moving abroad with their four children.

The series promises to show the highs and lows of the family’s fresh start in Italy — from house-hunting and school searches to culture shock, emotional moments and unexpected setbacks.

At 38, Jamie will also be seen trying to prove himself again on the pitch, silencing critics as he begins a new chapter in Serie A with underdogs US Cremonese.

ITV has described the show as an intimate and unfiltered look at a family trying to rebuild, move forward and embrace a bold new life overseas.

For Rebekah, it is also a chance to show another side of herself after years of being defined by one of the biggest celebrity scandals of the last decade.

But if viewers are expecting a public apology to Coleen Rooney, Rebekah has made her position unmistakably clear.

The Wagatha drama may be part of her past — but her refusal to back down remains as strong as ever.
