Maya Jama and Manchester City defender Ruben Dias have reportedly ended their 18-month romance, sources say, just four months after the couple moved into a £4million Cheshire mansion together.
The Love Island presenter, 31, and the Portuguese footballer, 29, reportedly called it quits three weeks ago, days before Maya flew to Inverness to film the new series of Celebrity Traitors. Fans have noticed the pair beginning to delete loved-up snaps from their Instagram accounts, erasing the public evidence of their relationship.
Maya and Ruben first met at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Manchester in November 2024, with their romance officially beginning the following month. The couple had recently taken a romantic trip to Rome, sharing intimate photos on social media as late as last month, making the split all the more sudden.
The break comes on the heels of a highly publicised burglary at their new home in January. While Ruben was away playing against Galatasaray and Maya was filming Love Island: All Stars in South Africa, thieves ransacked their mansion, taking thousands of pounds worth of designer clothes, jewellery, and electronics.
In response, the couple strengthened security at the property, paying for a 24-hour live-in Strongbox team in addition to the estate’s “state-of-the-art” systems. A source told The Sun: “Lots of footballers have private fitness coaches, chefs, drivers – and now security guards. It’s a big deal to feel safe at home.”
The mansion held particular sentimental value for the couple, as it was their first home together. Maya reportedly took numerous videos and photos to document the milestone on social media. “They are devastated,” a source said at the time of the burglary. “Maya was very proud to move into her first home with Ruben. The house means a lot to them.”
Despite the public nature of the breakup, neither star is expected to dwell on the split for long. Maya is set to return to work on the new series of Love Island next month, while Ruben will head to the US for the World Cup with the Portuguese national team.
Ruben previously told The Telegraph that publicity was never a concern in their relationship. “No, I think that’s the last thing you think about,” he said. “We are just aware of it, and there’s no way around it. But at the end of the day, you make it about everything else – the extra is just something you deal with.”
Maya has a history of high-profile relationships, including a split from rapper Stormzy in 2024. At the time, the pair issued a joint Instagram statement reflecting on their past five-year relationship and confirmed their breakup was final.
For Ruben and Maya, this latest heartbreak comes amid a whirlwind of media attention, personal milestones, and intense public scrutiny – proving that even fairy-tale relationships in the celebrity spotlight can be far from simple.
