Comedian Josh Widdicombe’s future on The Last Leg has been confirmed as he steps into the coveted role of co-host on Strictly Come Dancing. The BBC announced that Josh, 43, will join Emma Willis, 50, and Johannes Radebe, 39, replacing Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
Channel 4 confirmed to The Sun that Josh will continue his duties on The Last Leg, meaning fans won’t miss his satirical weekly take on current events with Adam Hills and Alex Brooker. The timing of Strictly will not clash with the hit Channel 4 show, allowing him to balance both roles.
The announcement surprised many, including fans, with Josh joining Johannes and Emma to form a trio of hosts for the upcoming September 2026 series. “The chemistry between Emma and Josh is off the charts,” said BBC Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips, praising the dynamic trio.
Johannes, a Strictly professional since 2018, called the opportunity “beyond anything I ever imagined,” while Emma admitted stepping into the iconic show is “impossible to comprehend” given the legacy of Tess and Claudia. Josh added: “Dancing the Charleston dressed as a penguin for the 2024 Christmas Special remains my career high point… I’m giddy with excitement and honoured to step into the biggest shoes in television. I adore Emma and Jojo and can’t wait to spend my weekends with them.”
Fans can expect a refreshed Strictly experience with three engaging hosts, new energy in the ballroom, and a seamless blend of humour, charm, and dance expertise.
