Comedian Josh Widdicombe has reportedly been confirmed as one of the new hosts for Strictly Come Dancing 2026, joining Emma Willis and professional dancer Johannes Radebe, after impressing BBC bosses with his wit and stage presence.
Speaking at his Not My Cup Of Tea show at Hackney Empire on Friday, Josh joked with the audience: “I know how Strictly works. There’s always a s**t middle-aged bloke that makes everyone else look good.” The 43-year-old was recalling his 2024 Christmas special appearance, where he danced in a penguin costume alongside Karen Hauer — an experience he described as “the worst day of my career”.
“I was like, ‘Oh fk. I am the st middle-aged guy. I am Adrian Chiles, je suis Jeremy Vine, that is who I am,’” he quipped to the crowd.
Josh is no stranger to live television, having co-hosted The Last Leg alongside Alex Brooker and Adam Hills since 2012. BBC insiders say he wowed producers with his deadpan humour and family-friendly style, making him a perfect fit to bring comedic energy to the show, while Emma Willis provides a steady, safe pair of hands.
Johannes Radebe, the South African-born professional, is also tipped to join the hosting line-up, pairing with Emma to balance charm, expertise, and stage chemistry. The BBC is keeping final plans under wraps, but the new line-up promises a fresh and energetic take for the 24th series.
Fans can expect a returning roster of professional dancers, including Dianne Buswell, Vito Coppola, Amy Dowden, Katya Jones, and others, while some familiar faces like Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, and Luba Mushtuk have been dropped this year. Judges remain Shirley Ballas, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, and Anton du Beke.
