Beverley Callard Shares Positive News on Breast Cancer Battle: Radiotherapy to Begin Soon
Beverley Callard, 69, has shared uplifting news with her fans after receiving new test results confirming she can soon begin radiotherapy in her fight against breast cancer. The Coronation Street star, who was diagnosed just after moving to Dublin for a role in the Irish soap opera Fair City, took to Instagram on Thursday to express her relief.
In an emotional video, Beverley said, “I’ve got absolutely great news. One of the lymph nodes that they’d sent over for testing to see how aggressive the cancer would be and it’s on low numbers which is really good.” She added that this news meant she could start her radiotherapy soon, expressing her gratitude and excitement, saying, “So the next step is coming ahead. Thank you for all your messages, I’m sending loads of love. I am popping champagne! Wahey!”
Beverley’s journey has been difficult, particularly after she had to pull out of the live I’m A Celebrity… South Africa final on medical advice. She had been forced to leave the show early after experiencing a “funny turn” and was later diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer just months after filming. Reflecting on her I’m A Celebrity exit, Beverley recalled, “What happened was, I went into the Bush Telegraph and apparently, I lost consciousness for a little while. I just wasn’t feeling myself.”
Despite the setback, Beverley remains determined to fight the disease. She shared that her “wonderful” time on I’m A Celebrity had been overshadowed by the challenges of her health, but it has only made her more resolute in her fight. “I will beat this. I will beat it,” she said.
Beverley’s fans and celebrity friends flooded her with messages of support, and her husband, Jon, was by her side throughout the emotional journey. “What a f***ing journey!” Jon exclaimed as they shared a drink to celebrate the positive step forward in her battle.
As Beverley prepares for the next phase of her treatment, she continues to inspire her followers with her strength and resilience, keeping her spirits high through each milestone.
